Matt is Economic and Social Policy Lead at the Ada Lovelace Institute. Working in the Society, Justice and Public Services research domain, Matt supports the development of Ada’s thinking about how public policy, public services and public institutions might need to change in an era of widespread AI use.
Matt’s was previously UK Public Policy Lead at Ada. Prior to joining Ada, they were a senior member of the policy team at the Open Data Institute. Matt has held various roles in the UK Labour Party, including as a political advisor to members of the Shadow Cabinet; and as a researcher for Shadow Science Minister Chi Onwurah MP.
Matt is also a postgraduate research student in Political Science at the London School of Economics, specialising in the political philosophy of AI and other data-centric technologies.
Outside of work, Matt serves as a board member for elop, an award-winning charity based in east London that provides affordable mental health support to members of the LGBTQ community.
