Clíodhna has extensive experience designing and implementing policy on AI, innovation, evaluation and regulations. She leads the multi-agency AI & Digital Regulations Service, a collaboration between more than ten regulatory and governance agencies to streamline regulation and market access for AI in health and social care. As Principal Scientific Adviser for AI at NICE, she advises companies on proving the clinical, cost-effectiveness and safety of their AI products, and has chaired national funding panels for scale-up of AI technologies in the NHS.
Since August 2023, Clíodhna is a Policy Adviser at Apollo Research, a start-up focusing on evaluating deceptive capabilities in the most advanced AI systems. Her current research focus is what agile regulatory ecosystems will be needed for advanced AI, combining technical expertise from Apollo with her practical experience.
