Andrew Snell is a consultant in public and health and a doctor in emergency medicine, with a special interest in health system development, health intelligence, health equity and the prevention of noncommunicable diseases.

Andrew’s current roles include an innovative joint appointment between Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, where he supports local health-system integration, population health-system development and the delivery of a hospital public-health strategy addressing health inequalities; technical support to the WHO Regional Office for Europe to help improve WHO support to and public health capacity in the 53 countries across the European Region; and a clinical role in the Emergency Department of Barnsley Hospital.

Andrew has a range of experience in public health, global health and emergency medicine roles in the UK and internationally, including UK roles in local and regional health systems; national advisory roles; global health roles with the WHO and the UK’s DFID (now FCDO); and medical work in Nepal, South Africa, New Zealand and Uganda.
